Synap.sys

Memories from the past or the future, collective or personal, instincts or knowledge acquired over time. These topics are covered in this audiovisual performance performed live through an interface created by the artist. This instrument symbolizes links that occur in the human brain: synapses, which are connections between neurons in order to allow the encoding of information acquired by the senses, recording of these throughout time, in addition to serving as a source for our memories.

DOT, a videogame with no winner

Dot, a videogame with no winner' is an audiovisual performance with synchronized sounds and images, played by a 'game console' built and programmed by the artist, and controlled by retro videogame (Nintendo) joysticks. The instrument is completely autonomous and works without the need of a computer, using only a projector and sound system to play its content. The performance has 5 parts, like the levels of a game. People from the audience are invited to play with the artist.

Using as title a Ludwig Wittgenstein formula, this composition deals with references, meanings and similarities. Is there something that is completely identical to another? How far you can make copies without changing the original? Do the copies themselves change the meaning of the original? Questioning tautological concepts, the performance aims to show in sound and image, this relationship. The work is performed using video-mapping techniques, creating illusions of three-dimensional depth to the viewer.

Aufhebung

Aufhebung is a live generative audiovisual performance. The artist develops, through images and sounds, questions about the philosophical term 'Aufhebung' used by Hegel in his 'Phenomenology of Spirit'. This term, which has dubious meaning even in the original language can be translated as cancellation and maintenance. It is, at the same time, affirmation and negation, being and nonbeing. Hegel uses it to illustrate the process of development of all things, through the triad thesis / antithesis / synthesis.

The landscapes of memory fade away in time. As the notes are played, blue landscapes are built, according to the intensity of each sound.
